Walter Lee Rucker, Jr., Ph.D., 68, psychologist, of Ravenswood, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family March 22, 2013.

After earning his PhD in Psychology from University of Rochester, Walter went on to work for the Social Security Administration.

He was an avid reader and a fan of old-time radio shows and books on tape.

Beloved husband of 42 years to Theresa "Terry" Rose Rucker (nee Eckleben).

Devoted father of Jennifer (Kemal) Kelesoglu, and Dakota, Jessica, and Daisy Rucker and the late Tony and Faith Rucker and Jermero Mc Mullen. Loving foster father of Jasmine Murray, Elva Russell, and Martez Marti.

Proud grandfather ("Gubba") of Claire, Ava, and Jonathan; dear brother of Joel (Carole) Rucker; uncle of Joen and Alyssa Rucker; faithful companion of many four-legged friends.

Preceded in death by parents Walter Lee Rucker, Sr. and Dorothy Rucker (nee McGwier).

Memorial gathering Tuesday, April 2, 4:30-9pm (prayer service 7:30) at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Ave, Chicago.

Memorial mass Wednesday, April 3, 10am, Queen of Angels, 2330 W. Sunnyside, Chicago, 60625,
