Obituary

The spirit of Judie Simpson (Judith A.) of Chicago passed on Wednesday August 24, 2016 surrounded by the love of friends and family. She was 65 years old (3-28-51 New Jersey). She was the daughter of Walter and Muff Simpson and sister to Walter (Nan, Sky, Jay) of Buffalo New York, and Ronald of Delaware.
In elementary school, while taking dance lessons, to everyone's delight, Judie treated her family to Dance recitals in their home, dressing in costume and descending the stairway performing a fast paced dance on the landing above the living room.
A wonderful childhood memory for the whole family was Boy Scout Camp Ken-Eta-Wa-Pec in Northwestern New Jersey, where her mom was the CampRN, her Dad a leader, Walter a Camper, and Judie and Ron, her younger brother enjoyed the beautiful clear lake and all the Scout activities.
In High School, a huge favorite accomplishment for her was being elected "Coat Girl", a celebrity star at football games. She also worked as a Lifeguard during the summers of high school and college years.
Judie attended Duquesne University graduating in 1974 with a degree in Pharmacy, and later (1978) from Northwestern University, Evanston, Il , Kellogg School of Management with a Masters In Business Administration. She was later Chief of Operations at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago IL. Judie also worked as a Manger at Midwest Hospice in Evanston, IL.
Since retiring she had volunteered for many, many years at the House of Good Shepard in Chicago Il., a home for women and children affected by Domestic Violence; and later at Curt's Café in Evanston, Il which provides training to at risk youth in Evanston where she served as a short order cook, a life-long dream of hers
The Memorial will be at 5:30pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Gardens at JourneyCare Hospice, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview IL, where donations are also directed on Judie's behalf.
